Time for your annual mammogram?

High quality, accurate mammograms can mean the difference between early stage cancer detection or late-stage cancer.

Our legal team is here with you, every step of the way.

Questions about your mammogram?

Hundreds of thousands of people have mammograms every year. Some of these people have reached the age where mammograms are recommended as part of routine care; others have mammograms due to a family history of breast cancer; and others have mammograms for diagnostic reasons after finding a lump during a self-exam. For many people, having a high quality, accurate mammogram can mean the different between early stage cancer detection or late-stage cancer.

According to The American Cancer Society (ACS), once a woman reaches age 40, she should have the choice to have a mammogram performed annually as part of her annual breast cancer screening. Once a woman reaches age 45, ACS says she should definitely have annual mammograms. And, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women, so it’s no surprise that women take their mammograms seriously.

In North Carolina, there are several radiology practices that offer mammography services. One of those practices is Raleigh Radiology. Raleigh Radiology performs mammograms and other imaging services at multiple locations across North Carolina. Recently, the American College of Radiology (ACR) conducted a review of mammograms performed at the Raleigh Radiology Blue Ridge facility between November 7, 2017 and November 6, 2019. As a result of the ACR’s review, the FDA ordered the Blue Ridge facility to stop performing mammograms until they completed a Corrective Action Plan, notified patients, and had their Mammography Accreditation reinstated. According to letters mailed to Raleigh Radiology patients, an unknown number of mammograms performed between November 7, 2017 and November 6, 2019 were found to have “technical quality” issues.

If you or someone you know had a mammogram at Raleigh Radiology’s Blue Ridge facility between November 7, 2017 and November 6, 2019, give us a call to learn more. The consultation is free, and we will take time to talk with you and do our best to answer your questions.
